Celebrate Theater Day

“Reproducing theater by digital means, is it theater or is it not theater?” questioned Pilar Alba, head of the Academic Arts Unit of the Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ), when celebrating the return of theater to the stage after two years of pandemic.

Within the framework of World Theater Day, which is celebrated this Sunday, March 27, the academic exposed the need and importance of “being face to face between the actor and the public”.

“When this pandemic situation happens to us, we start doing theater online; we started to do video-theater; We started making short films. But always with this idea of continuing to participate, of continuing to share ideas through the scene, although the scene was now mediated by an electronic medium”, recalled Pilar Alba.

Due to the above, she said she was happy that this World Theater Day could be celebrated again with the presence of the public, since this Sunday a special day of theatrical performances is planned at the Fernando Calderón Theater.

From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., the public of Zacatecas will be able to enjoy, for a small recovery fee of 10 pesos, a program that will begin with works for the whole family, but whose rating for audiences will gradually rise throughout the day.

This day is part of the activities that both the UAZ, through the Academic Arts Unit, and the Ramón López Velarde Zacatecan Institute of Culture (IZC), organized in coordination for the celebration of said date and that began this Saturday with a series of academic activities taught at the State Center for the Arts.

“It is one of the oldest, noblest and I could even say the cheapest (arts) that we have access to, and it is also one of the most understandable. Because the theater will always reflect human feelings, issues of life that sometimes we do not stop to see”, considered the expert.

For this reason, he reaffirmed his invitation to the Zacatecan society to come this Sunday to enjoy the works that are prepared for this special day, in addition to getting closer to the theater, an art that he assured “is an experience that will mark them forever.” lifetime”.
