Not in France to celebrate July 14? You’re not alone and that won’t stop you from partying in New York. French people and lovers of French culture have the choice this year to live “Bastille Day”. And as the Frenchies like to celebrate, the events are spread over several days. Overview.
Monday July 10
We start the festivities with the French restaurant Week. For the 12th edition, around fifteen restaurants (four times more than last year, still in post-covid mode) are taking part in this week of tricolor feasting. La Sirène SoHo and La Sirène Upper West Side are back, as well as Le Gratin, Bar Boulud, Felix, Bistro Léo (Sixty Hôtel), Fig & Olive, Gaby Brasserie Française (Sofitel), La Bonne Soupe, Le Rivage, Chez Francis, OCabanon, Perrine (at Pierre), Orsay, and Amélie Wine Bar, La Sirène. Inspired by New York restaurant week, the restaurateurs will offer fixed-price menus that will showcase the flavors of France, from foie gras au torchon with duck confit or braised rabbit, to profiteroles and chocolate fondant. The partnership with OpenTable makes it easy to book online for the duration of the event.

It is now an unmissable event in July in Manhattan: Bastille Day at Rumsey Playfield, in the heart of Central Park. The tricolor evening organized by the Consulate of France will not lack rhythms between Bénabar, the Franco-Congolese rapper Passi, Adèle Castillon, the French and American breakdance teams who will defend their colors at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the DJs Joachim Garraud – great a regular at New York’s July 14 -, in an electro duo with flautist DJ Marie Berson. All introduced by the Marseillaise and the Star-Spangled Banner of course. The Committee of French and French-speaking Associations of New York (CAFUSA), partner of the evening, will win prizes. To enter the raffle, it’s here.

The singer Lili Rouquin offers you another setting for Bastille Day: the skyline seen from Queens. The voice of this French artist, accompanied by her piano and ukulele, will resonate at Gantry Plaza State Park. The hour-long performance is co-hosted by the New York State Office of Parks.
Lili Rouquin meet under the Gantry Towers on July 14 from 7pm – Saturday July 15 in case of rain.
Paul Taylor will not fail to evoke our Bastille Day on the stage of the Broadway Comedy Club. The British comedian will present his latest show “Bisoubye x”, jokes in French and English guaranteed. He’s expecting you on July 14 (and July 16), as he told French Morning on Instagram.
Saturday July 15
Double celebration for Coucou French Classes: the school will celebrate not only our National Day but also its 10 years of existence in New York. Students, their friends and all Francophiles are invited to a Stree Party, neighborhood festival atmosphere. For four hours, teachers from the school will put on a show – the majority are singers, actors or dancers – there will also be music with a gipsy jazz concert. And you can take advantage of the gourmet stands (Murray’s Cheese, Maman or Michel&Augustin).

Sunday July 16
It is certainly the biggest tricolor celebration in New York, an appointment that New Yorkers are particularly fond of: Bastille Day organized by the FIAF in the streets of Midtown. Like last year, Madison Avenue between 59th and 63rd streets, as well as 60th between Madison and Fifth Avenues will be closed to cars to let you enjoy the festivities. On the program: concerts including that of Bobygroove, half of the Cosmic Gardens duo, excerpts from the “Moulin Rouge” show, family activities, a film screening and of course, something to enjoy.
Bastille Day FIAF on Madison Avenue, July 16 from noon to 5pm. Info and reservations for events within the FIAF here.
And for those who want to get some fresh air north of New York, a petanque tournament is organized at the farm of Alix Daguin (daughter of Ariane Daguin), All One One All Farm. It is enough to form a team of three people – family or friends -, to register here, to come with your balls (if you forget, additional balls will be available but on a first-come, first-served basis) and have a crazy desire to have fun. Beginners can also participate in the tournament, the rules will be reminded before starting the competition. And if you don’t feel like shooting the jack, you can always come as a spectator to encourage the teams. And as with the Daguins, we know how to party, there will obviously be plenty of good local products to taste.
Bastille Day Petanque Tournament, All One One All Farm, 221 Craigville Road, Goshen, July 16 from 11:30am – 4:30pm.
