CELAYA, Gto. (OEM-Informex). – Hugo, a 33-year-old from Celayo donated his organs to give life expectancy to four people on the waiting list for a transplant, who received corneas and kidneys.
The man, who was dedicated to the field, was the father of three children and originally from San Antonio de Gallardo; it was his wife and brothers who decided to donate so that a part of him could continue to live.

The foregoing was reported by the Guanajuato Health Secretariat through the State Transplant Center (CETRA).
Thanks to this act of heroism, it was possible to restore sight to two patients on the waiting list for a corneal transplant in the T1 clinic, and both kidneys were transplanted in the Hospital de Alta Especialidad del Bajío to two patients.
Before the procurement of the 4 organs, the Staff of the General Hospital of Celaya paid tribute to this great hero with applause when he was transferred between the corridors.
With this donation, 14 life hero donors have been generated this year, from whom 56 organs and tissues, 28 kidneys, 5 livers, 23 corneas and 7 bones have been obtained.
Guanajuato ranks second in organ donation among all states, only below Mexico City, and second in deceased donor kidney transplantation, only below Mexico City.
During this health contingency, all biosafety protocols are strictly maintained, in case the “Life Code” is activated in any of the licensed hospital units.
