The Executive Hydroelectric Commission of the Lempa River (CEL) and LAGEO, through FUNDAGEO, awarded more than 80 new scholarships to young people so that they can pursue technical and university careers.
The delivery of the scholarships is part of the LAGEOBECAS project and benefits young people who reside near the geothermal plants located in: the municipality of Ahuachapán; Berlin, Usulután; and projects under construction such as the geothermal plant in Chinameca, in San Miguel.
The scholarships were awarded by the president of the CEL, Daniel Álvarez, and the executive director of FUNDAGEO, Stephanie Daboub, who highlighted the scholarship delivery was born in 2019 and since then, FUNDAGEO has awarded more than 1,900 scholarships to young people from the whole country.
“President Nayib Bukele’s philosophy is to change lives and that is what we are doing, it is an honor for me to be in front of you, that you have made an effort and have earned the scholarship, are good professionals, learn and maintain your value, A title does not define us as a person, but rather our behavior with everyone else,” said Álvarez.
For each scholarship beneficiary, financial support is provided for the payment of university fees and expenses associated with the chosen careers, which can be university and technical careers; Also, the Government provides support to the training process.
This program aims to support young people to fulfill their dreams and training goals; With this, transform the reality of the country; With the delivery of these scholarships, 2,060 beneficiaries are added.
“This is not only a sign of recognition, but of admiration and affection for each young person who studies every day and sacrifices to be someone in life. At FUNDAGEO we are convinced that with this program we transform your lives, we fulfill dreams and we recognize the perseverance of each one of you,” said director Daboub.
