The 7th edition of the Cégep en forme race at Cégep de Drummondville was a huge success with an impressive participation record, bringing together over 550 students and staff.
This annual gathering, which has become a must for the college community, highlights the importance of physical activity and mental health. Please note that the race is open to all fitness levels and it is possible to complete the 5 km course by running or walking.
The event, which is intended to be more participatory than competitive, still allowed some runners to stand out. Thus, Lohan Poirier set the best time among students (16:30), and Justine Brouillard did the same among students (20:26). As for the crew, the best times went to Dave Bonneau (20:25) and Mélissa Gourdeau St-Denis (25:50).
Pierre Leblanc, director general of Cégep de Drummondville, expresses his pride and gratitude to all the participants and volunteers who contributed to the success of the event
“I am delighted to see such a movement and growing enthusiasm for this event. This is tangible proof of the importance of promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in our community. I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making this issue memorable.”
An inclusive race
The organizers of the event highlight the participation of employees from the work platform of Cégep de Drummondville who participated in the race in their own way, either by putting them in racing chairs (kartus) or by walking. In addition, the college wishes to emphasize the involvement of staff, teachers and speakers who volunteered to push the chairs and to thank the City of Drummondville for providing the equipment. a loan
The organizing committee was able to count on the support of about sixty volunteers from the college community to ensure that the race ran smoothly as well as to ensure that the runners were safe. The Cégep Health and Wellness Committee, in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education, is at the start of the Cégep en forme race.
