EDUCATION. Two teachers in special education at Cégep de Granby, Frédéric Tessier and Annie Dutil, will conduct a research project next fall entitled “Experimentation with experiential pedagogy in a natural environment at the college level.”
“Anxiety is an important issue for the perseverance and success of young people in college. But, how do you meet the needs of learners by supporting engagement, motivation and increasing skills, while lowering their stress level? ” This is what the researchers intend to explore during their research, they said in a statement.
“With the increase in time spent in front of screens of all kinds, it is more important than ever to get students outside to learn in a natural setting. In our practice, we have seen that the benefits of nature are numerous: increased creativity and concentration, reduced stress and reduced symptoms of attention deficit, ”explained Frédéric Tessier.
This study is made possible by the Teaching and Learning Research Assistance Program of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
