Cefusa, the Grupo Fuertes livestock company, has been awarded the Social Council and Alumni Awards 2024, from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), for its achievements and projects of modernization, improvement and sustainable advancement of the sector.
These awards recognize, in seven categories, the contribution of the educational institution to the training of talent and its contribution to regional economic and social development through its human, scientific and technological capital.
Cefusa has received the Cooperation Award for the implementation of the latest technological advances. Specifically, it is a pioneer in the use of biofilters, a cutting-edge system for the comprehensive management of slurry that purifies liquid effluents to optimize organic and mineral fertilization of the soil and combat its degradation, with which it is committed to regenerative agriculture and circular economy. This project has been developed for seven years together with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, through the Chair in Sustainable Environmental Management of Pig Production.
This same year the company has also advanced in a new digitalization initiativewith the creation of an air quality control network in livestock facilities, with excellent results and which, as in cities, monitors real emissions.
