It would surprise me all the same that they receive five or ten times more than me because Benoît Saint-Denis, he fights where he will nab bonuses. And that plays. But apart from that, good for them if they manage to negotiate well. Then, you have to make a choice. Either you want to be the star of Ligue 1 or you try to win the Champions League.
But I understand this choice, especially if the guy is young and he’s still cutting his teeth a bit before he wants to switch to the UFC later on.
However, unlike a Parnasse just 25 years old, Cédric Doumbé already displays 30 years on the clock. This does not prevent him from dreaming of eventually establishing himself as the best welterweight on the planet. Although he does not mention it directly, BSD nevertheless struggles to justify his logic of joining an organization such as the PFL at this stage of his career:
I think if the guy says he wants to be the best fighter in the world and he can afford it, but he’s not going to the UFC, that’s not his goal.
Proud of his presence in the roster of the UFC, Benoît Saint-Denis would not trade it for anything in the world at only 27 years old. On the other hand, it is difficult for him to rationalize the decision of a Cédric Doumbé, having preferred to prove his worth in the ranks of the PFL.
