The flight carrying Cedi Osman, Panathinaikos’ new transfer acquisition, landed at “El. Venizelos” on Sunday evening.
The “greens” surprised everyone when on Saturday morning they announced, through a post by Dimitris Giannakopoulos on Instagram, the acquisition of the 29-year-old Turkish forward, who in recent years has been competing in NBA with them Cavaliers and them Spurs.

“It was an easy choice for me. I have known the team for many years, I have played against them when I was younger. There was interest from Euroleague teams, but it wasn’t a difficult decision for me. We talked to Ataman a few times, he was my coach when I was a kid. I am happy to be a member of Panathinaikos. We haven’t talked about my role or my teammates yet, we’ll talk in person.” Cedi Osman said in his first statements.
Returning to the Euroleague after 2017, the new transfer acquisition of the European champions has clearly set his sights. “I’m here for the back to back in the Euroleague. We have a terrible team, but now it is more difficult because there are very good teams with important transfers. But obviously we are the best and we are going for the back to back.”
Panathinaikos acquired him Osman with one year agreementas happened last October with Kendrick Nanwho eventually signed a two-year extension. According to sports press reports, the 29-year-old forward’s contract will move to 1.5 million euros, with the bonuses increasing it a bit more.
