The CEC will comply with the court decision.
At the suggestion of Tsvetozar Tomov, it was accepted in the sectional protocol that there should be an additional control, which would be a guarantee that the number of machine ballots would not be confused.
Although CEC Deputy Chairman Emil Voinov of the BSP quota on Saturday supported how the protocol should look, he said he did not understand the reasons for the court decision. He pointed out that there are no texts in the Electoral Code that specify the separate entry of the number of ballots from machines and those from paper. Voinov indicated, quoted by BNR, that the sectional commissions will be difficult.
“The protocol is complex and will inevitably lead to many errors, delays in the work of the sectional commissions, as well as delays in the transmission to the RIC, similar to the elections on April 4, 2021”.
The secretary of the CEC Sevinch Solakova from the DPS quota said she trusts the sectional committees and they will do well, but she said the conflicting signals will unsettle the people reporting the results.
“The greatest defeats are inflicted by conflicting opinions from the same body that made a decision.”
CEC Deputy Chairperson Rositsa Mateva remained of the opinion that the version of the protocol adopted by the CEC does not fulfill the court decision.
“The protocol should contain separate parts in which the results of the voting with paper ballots and of the voting with machine ballots are reported without having the SECs sum up and add up numbers”.
