Ceará holds the best attack of Brasileirão and draws with Bragantino – 01/07/2021

Red Bull Bragantino and Ceará played a goalless match with few emotions this Thursday afternoon (1st). Little required, the goalkeepers hardly moved and had to withstand the cold at the Nabi Abi Chedid stadium, in Bragança Paulista. It was the first time that the team from São Paulo, leader and owner of the best attack with 17 goals, missed the Brasileirão.

The result of the duel in the eighth round keeps Massa Bruta in the lead, now with 18 points won. However, Athletico, runner up with 16, have a game in hand. Vozão, on the other hand, is in the middle of the table, being in 11th place, with 10 points.

The two teams return to the field for the ninth round of the Brazilian this Sunday, at 18:15. Cearenses receive Juventude at Arena Castelão and Bragantino will go to Morumbi to face São Paulo.

bad for both sides

On the way out of the field, the players showed that no one was happy with the conquered point. Striker Ytalo pointed out that Bragantino repeated the mistakes of the victory against Atlético-GO 1-0 and also failed to create goal chances. “I think we were a little lower than what we’ve been doing. I had already been down in the game against Atlético-GO, in terms of goal completion, we played the ball a lot, but we created great chances. Now it’s time to work for the next game” , he told the Premiere.

On the other hand, defender Messias praised Ceará’s performance, despite being unhappy with the result. “We came with the intention of winning, not taking a point. That doesn’t make us sad, but we wanted more. That’s the feeling I get. It’s always important to score, especially away from home in front of the championship leader. that this point will help us a lot in the future, we have to value it. There was no lack of effort, we had the opportunity, but unfortunately the three points didn’t come,” he said to Premiere.

low pace

Little happened until the break in the confrontation. Ceará came to Bragança Bragança closed. The Red Bull team, leader of the championship, was also not in its best days. The ball rolled a lot, barely reaching the goal defended by Richard. The first half ended with the home team having 69% possession and no defense from both archers.

Both teams returned with more attitude from the locker rooms. The home team finally managed to reach the opposing goal, while the visitors did not give up on attending the attacking field, as they had done in the first stage. But the pace dropped again in the final half, after the changes made by coach Guto Ferreira. More resigned to the result than the principals, the people from Ceará knew how to close themselves off without getting too scared, to take a stitch in their luggage.

chance only at the beginning

Betting on counterattacks, Ceará got a good chance only in the first minute of the match. Saulo Mineiro left midfield and advanced with the ball until he entered the area, when Natan recovered in the play and managed to disarm the attacker. The flag signaled offside, but Vozão’s forward was behind the line that divides the field at the time of the pass and, if the goal was scored, the VAR would probably validate.

In the other 44 minutes, no great danger move took place. Claudinho cleaned up the play well, but failed in the finish on 16 minutes. The home team exchanged passes on the attacking field without defining the moves, making goalkeeper Cleiton just a privileged spectator of the clash.

Take a pen, give a hat

In the first half, Lima left his legs open and took a beautiful pen from Claudinho. But Grandpa’s midfielder didn’t let it go, and Helinho was the one who paid the bill. At 7 minutes, he took advantage of the high ball in midfield to give a beautiful hat to the Red Bull Bragantino striker.

the first defense

Cleiton needed to work for the first time only 7 minutes into the second stage. The goalkeeper was required by Fernando Sobral. The play began with the midfielder from Ceará receiving a good ball from the left, leaving defender Fabrício Bruno missing him and hitting hard for the goal.

pressure at home

After 20 minutes of the second stage, finally, Bragantino managed to transform the possession of the ball into danger to the opponent. The best bid came from the feet of Arthur, who forced Richard to stretch all the way to prevent the score from being opened.

exchanges cool game

Coach Guto Ferreira, who had already made a change in Ceará, made three more when he noticed the improvement of Massa Bruta in the match. Barbieri tried to heat up the match again with the entry of Eric Ramires, however the pace dropped again at the Nabi Abi Chedid stadium.

With the changes, the team managed to hold the ball a little longer and avoided any pressure from the Bragança club in the final minutes. The exception was in the 50th minute, when Pedrinho was alone, in the small area, but he submitted without direction and threw out Bragantino’s chance to win the match after a low cross from the right wing.

Hot head

Not even the 14º C that were in Bragança Paulista at the end of the second stage were able to cool down Cléber’s head. The Ceará striker came in at 25 minutes and, with just two minutes on the field, took the yellow card for an unnecessary push on Fabricio Bruno. At 45, he left the arm once more, this time in the face on Raul, in a throw in midfield and was sent off.
