The publisher from Buchenbach is a candidate for the state election in the Freiburg 1 constituency.
. The publisher Manuel Herder was nominated by the CDU as a candidate for the state election in the Freiburg 1 constituency. In the Kurhaus in Titisee, the 54-year-old prevailed on Friday evening in the first ballot against the Freiburg entrepreneur Ruth Baumann and the union secretary Andreas Ziegler. 172 members of the CDU district associations Freiburg, Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and Waldshut cast their votes.
Herder received 114 votes. Baumann received 48 votes. Ziegler had no chance with eight votes. Two CDU members abstained. The constituency extends from the east of Freiburg into the Black Forest. The state elections will take place on March 14, 2021. The businesswoman Petra Winkle from Titisee-Neustadt was nominated as a replacement candidate.
Herder has been running the publishing house of the same name in Freiburg for many years and lives in Buchenbach. He wanted to swap his publishing life in order to be able to work in the state parliament in the future. What is important to him is the strengthening of the middle class and equal opportunities in the education system. “It doesn’t have to matter whether the parents speak German or not or whether they are academics or not,” said Herder. One must raise the full potential of society. He also stands for law and order.
When it comes to climate protection, Herder does not want other parties to take the butter off his bread. “Our beautiful blue planet is partially an ecological remediation case,” said Herder. In the past, however, it was conservative people’s parties that ensured that the poisoned Rhine was clean again, that the acid rain ended and that Lake Constance could become a drinking water reservoir for Stuttgart, according to Herder. The ecological remediation of the environment is one of the greatest challenges in history. This cannot be achieved through “ideological and fear-driven hysteria”. Such a task can be tackled with experience and systematic work.
Baumann had shown himself to be fierce in her speech. In her opinion, women and medium-sized businesses are underrepresented in politics, which is why she ran for candidates. She and her husband run a road construction company and advertise with down-to-earthness and resilience.
The constituency is currently in the hands of the Greens. Reinhold Pix won more votes in 2016 than the CDU candidate, which was tantamount to a czur at the time. Because traditionally the constituency was always colored black in the election results. Herder now wants to fight to win back the constituency that had been in CDU hands for decades. “How do we want to win back Baden-Wrttemberg if we don’t win back this constituency,” said Herder. He will no longer have to compete against Pix. The Green politician moved to the constituency of Breisgau and was nominated as a candidate by his party. Herder is therefore running against Daniela Evers in the state elections, who works as a lawyer and sits on the municipal council of Titisee-Neustadt for the Greens.
