MAIN-KINZIG CIRCLE – Yesterday, the delegates of the CDU Main-Kinzig nominated Pascal Reddig as a candidate at the constituency delegate meeting in constituency 179 (Hanau). The lawyer and experienced local politician from Hanau is therefore entering the race for the direct mandate for the CDU. Reddig received around 96% of the votes in a secret ballot and a standing ovation for his speech.
“As the CDU, we face the great challenge of showing that our country can do better than the current government allows. It is our job to work together to tackle the big issues that affect the people in the middle of our society,” said Pascal Reddig in his application speech at the party conference. Reddig, who works full-time as a lawyer in a law firm in Frankfurt, has deep roots in the constituency as leader of the CDU in the Hanau city council and former chairman of the CDU-Rodenbach. As deputy federal chairman of the Junge Union, Reddig is also well connected in political Berlin. In his speech, Reddig outlined where the traffic light government had led the country. “The second year in a row of recession, 300,000 industrial jobs lost, unregulated migration, a massive loss of trust in our political system and never-ending strife. This can’t go on like this for another four years,” said Reddig. But now it’s also about showing that the CDU can do better. “We have to relieve the hard-working middle class and abolish the disincentives in citizens’ money. We can only get our economy on track if we reduce the tax burden and finally remove requirements. And we have to invest massively in our infrastructure and our education system,” explains Reddig in his speech.
Schad: “We will conduct the election campaign as a unit.”
“With Pascal Reddig we have a strong chance of winning back the Bundestag mandate in the Hanau constituency,” explained Max Schad, district chairman of the CDU Main-Kinzig. In his opening speech, Schad emphasized the unity of the district association and motivated the city and municipal associations to engage in a committed election campaign. “We will fight the election campaign unitedly and resolutely,” assured Schad.
Reddig thanked him for the spirit of optimism that was noticeable at the party conference. “I am grateful for the strong trust of our members. This vote gives me momentum for the upcoming election campaign,” said Reddig happily.
Big thanks to Dr. Katja Leikert
The previous CDU member of the Bundestag in the Hanau constituency, Dr. Katja Leikert was optimistic. “I am grateful that I was able to represent this constituency and its people in Berlin for eleven years. Pascal Reddig will continue this work conscientiously and successfully,” said Leikert. District chairman Max Schad spoke to Dr. Leikert also expressed his thanks: “She has represented the western Main-Kinzig district and the city of Hanau in the Bundestag since 2013 – we are very grateful to her for this many years of political work.” Leikert decided not to run for another term for family reasons. She will continue to represent the constituency until the new Bundestag is formed and will campaign for the CDU and Pascal Reddig. “We are looking forward to the coming months and the upcoming election campaign,” concluded Schad, Reddig and Leikert.
