CDU: Do not save at the expense of municipalities and civil servants – Baden-Württemberg

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – The CDU in Baden-Württemberg wants to spare both the municipalities and officials in the austerity round in the 2022 budget. “I don’t want to save at the expense of third parties,” said CDU finance politician Tobias Wald on Sunday to the German press agency in Stuttgart. Cities and municipalities would have to cope with the consequences of the Corona crisis, and the state must continue to help here. He was also against reducing the aid to officials in the country. Green-black must ensure that the public service remains attractive, said the financial policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group.

The heads of the green-black coalition decided on Friday evening to get by without new loans in the 2022 budget. “We have to tighten our belts,” said Wald. “That means not to break down, but to consolidate.” The ministries should provide a savings contribution of at least 250 million euros. Wald assumes that about 100 million euros can be saved through the General Financial Management item. That would mean that the other departments would have to bring in another 150 million.

“That one or the other beloved funding program will not be continued, that can be,” said the CDU politician. You have to look “where a little bacon has been put on”. Another possibility is to let federal or European Union grants expire because they cannot be co-financed.
