He Universal Citizen Income in the Mexico City will have the green light starting this year, according to what was published by the Ministry of Welfare and Equality (Sebien) capital, which announced the program’s operating rules.
This program will have the objective of providing economic support to the residents of CDMX between 57 and 59 years old, who will have a bimonthly payment of 2 thousand pesos free of charge, universal and without intermediaries.
According to the agency, it is expected that during fiscal year 2024, the first 20,000 beneficiaries of the program will be able to begin collecting this aid.
In that sense, it was detailed that by 2025, the Sebien expects to expand the members of the program by 25 thousand more beneficiaries, thus achieving a cumulative total of 13.5% of the total target population expected with the Universal Citizen Income program.
By 2026, it is planned to expand the program for another 40 thousand people, then accumulating 85 thousand beneficiaries. Said year will have coverage of 25.2% of the total population in the age range, so it is expected that in 2030, the program will have full coverage in Mexico City.
The budget for the Universal Citizen Income program for people aged 57 to 59 is 42 million pesos allocated to the delivery of these bimonthly supports per person.
