The mayor of Iztapalapa, Clara Brugada, gave financial support through bank cards to members of the social program Women Studying”, which help women over 30 to complete their primary, secondary and high school studies.

The local president explained that the program began in 2019, the year in which 5,000 women from Iztapalapa benefited, who suspended their studies for working, caring for their children or a relative or because they got married and were no longer allowed to continue.

“But with the support of the first mayor’s office, they decided to resume their school preparation and conclude some of the academic levels, which benefits them in the first place, but also their family and society,” he said.

In the auditorium of Utopia Teotongo, Brugada Molina reported that the beneficiaries have access to financial support of 500 pesos per month if they are in literacy (learning to read and write and primary school); 600 pesos if they rejoin secondary level; and 700 if they return to the high school and college level.

He indicated that the more than 800 women who are part of the social program must collect their financial support in any of the 13 territorial directorates that are in the mayor’s office, following all health measures against covid-19.

She explained that the pandemic affected the social program, since there were only online classes or counseling, the participation of the students was limited, “but it is to be recognized the 800 women who continued their online studies in primary, secondary and preparatory; between 2019 and 2020 5,800 women have been supported and in 2021 2,500 more will be supported ”.

The mayor pointed out that there is a lag, among women over 15 years of age, of 38 percent in basic education, that is, primary and secondary; In addition, there are nearly 100,000 women over 15 years of age who do not have completed high school, which is why he assured that “we face a very clear backwardness in Iztapalapa, that is why we support women with economic stimulus to continue their studies.”

Regarding the number of beneficiaries by academic level at which they are registered, Clara Brugada He pointed out that 2 thousand 708 women study primary school; 2,182 high school and 910 high school and university.
