The Delta strain is the new threat of coronavirus. This mutation is already wreaking havoc all over the world and threatening a new increase in covid cases in the autumn. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) warns that the new Delta viral strain of coronavirus is as contagious as chickenpox. This mutation can be transmitted by vaccinated people and can cause serious illness.
The most vulnerable to the new strain are the unvaccinated ones, who are 10 times more likely to become seriously ill as a result of this infection, CDC specialists note in a document.
“Recognize that the war has changed. Improve communication on individual risks among those vaccinated. ” The same document describes the Delta variant as as communicable as chickenpox and more transmissible than a number of other diseases, such as MERS, SARS, Ebola, smallpox, and seasonal flu, including the flu that caused the 2018 epidemic.
The CDC recommends preventative measures such as mandatory immunization for health care professionals to protect vulnerable people and return to wearing masks.
