CDC Has Not Yet Recommended Covid-19 Vaccines for Children, This is the Reason

Jakarta

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) United States (US) said, for now the Corona virus vaccine COVID-19 not recommended for injections into children when they become available later.

Quoted from Reuters, this is because there has not been a single clinical trial the COVID-19 vaccine experimental carried out on children and also pregnant women, so that its safety cannot be guaranteed.

Even so, the CDC says these recommendations may change as clinical trials develop.

“The group recommended to receive the vaccine could change in the future,” wrote the CDC on its official website.

Several COVID-19 vaccine development companies are already planning to conduct clinical trials on children. For example, Pfizer Inc plans to conduct clinical trials of vaccines in children aged 12 years and AstraZeneca in children aged 5-12 years.

In the US alone the COVID-19 vaccine will be distributed in four phases. Health workers and people belonging to other vulnerable groups will have access to the first vaccine.
