Prime Minister Mark Rutte must make a personal effort to ensure that the VDL Nedcar car factory gets a new client, in order to secure the future of the factory, says coalition party CDA.

According to Member of Parliament Mustafa Amhaouch, BMW’s decision not to have any Mini Countrymans made anymore is so drastic for the economy that it matter for the boss should be for the cabinet.
The decision of BMW puts thousands of jobs at risk, and the Limburg economy has to take a hard blow. The CDA is therefore asking for an action plan from the cabinet. According to the Christian Democrats, this plan should also look at other needs in the region, for example in the field of infrastructure.
“This is painful news for VDL Nedcar and its employees, whose future has become a lot more uncertain. VDL Nedcar is an important economic player where many Limburgers earn their living ”, says Amhaouch. Minister Eric Wiebes (Economic Affairs) has already indicated that he wants to help VDL Nedcar with the search for a new customer to secure the future of the company.
“I will see to it that real work is done on this,” promises Ahmhaouch.
