CDA State Secretary Keijzer wants to set limits on immigration

She said that in the WNL op Zondag television program. Her party colleague and Deputy Prime Minister Hugo de Jonge said earlier that 80,000 immigrants per year is too much. Keijzer agrees. “That cannot be sustained.”

The minister has hinted earlier that she may want to go for the CDA list leader. The party will make a decision about this later this year.

De Jonge and Finance Minister Wopke Hoekstra are seen as the most important candidates for leadership with the Christian Democrats. Hoekstra said earlier that he also wanted to set stricter requirements for immigration.

Next year’s elections are scheduled for the Second Chamber. VVD leader and prime minister Mark Rutte said at the end of last year that migration will be a spearhead in the elections.
