In the Abel Herzberg Lecture in Amsterdam, the Minister of Health discussed the consequences of the corona crisis on society. He thereby also set out the political lines he sees as the new leader of the CDA.
The corona crisis brought a lot of uncertainty, but he also showed a ‘heartwarming amount of care’ from people. He wants to maintain that solidarity, because the crisis is not over yet.

According to him, politics should set a good example. Always show the will to work it out together. “Otherwise, the foundation of our society will be at stake. Otherwise we will erode mutual solidarity. ”
Society must come first for politics and it must ensure that no one is left behind, says the new-born CDA leader. Especially in these times of increasing polarization, uncertainties must be removed. “And solidarity is the antidote to hate.”
