It is rare for game developers to openly admit defeat. In the case of “Cyberpunk 2077” the expectations were enormous, so it is hardly surprising that so many people were disappointed with the game’s performance (especially on the previous generation consoles). CD Projekt RED, aware that it did not live up to its promises or expectations, encouraged all dissatisfied players to apply for a refund.
The criticism of “Cyberpunk 2077” was so great that UOKiK took a closer look the course of work on the game updates. Many stores, in turn, have decided to extend their return policy. Console players also got a guarantee of reimbursement, which was confirmed by Sony and Microsoft. Redzi said, however, that all those who apply before December 21 will receive a refund regardless of where they purchased the game.
As a result, there have been many doubts, especially when it comes to returning physical copies of games. Where can I send the box to? How is the return of collector’s editions? As reported by the website Vice Games, it turns out that the company does not require players to return purchased games.
Vice Games spoke with several people who in December submitted a request for reimbursement for the purchase of Cyberpunk 2077 directly to CD Projekt. A few weeks later, the company sent them funds via PayPal and did not demand a return of the game. As confirmation, one of the persons sent a transaction confirmation:
Steve, an interviewee at Vice Games who refused to reveal his name, confirmed that no one told him to send the game back. He added that he had ordered a collector’s edition, so CD Projekt RED refunded him $ 300 after taxes, and the game, along with all additional items (figurine, artbook and other newspapers), are still with him.

What about digital purchases? According to other interlocutors of the website, in this case it is also easiest to recover money by contacting Reds directly. Ben, whose name was also not disclosed, received this comment from CD Projekt:
After further analysis, we decided to fulfill your refund request for a digital copy that you purchased outside of PlayStation Network or the Microsoft Store.
He admitted he was surprised because the game remained on his Xbox account (and he can still play it) even though he sent CD Projekt his key. It is not known if the company will in any way change its refund policy and request a return of the copies of the games for which they gave the money back. Admittedly, this is a very unusual situation.
To submit an application for a refund for “Cyberpunk 2077”, it is enough to provide the proof of purchase and the form in which the funds are to be returned in the form on the CD Projekt website. What’s more, instead of money, we can ask you to replace the console copy with the PC version. According to Vice Games, the forms can be completed at least until March 2021.
