“CD Projekt Red Focuses on New Witcher Game After Completing Cyberpunk 2077 Expansion, Phantom Liberty”

Representatives of the Polish studio CD Projekt Red in the framework publication of their financial results revealed that the largest part of the team continues to work on the Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. This trend will probably continue until the release of the awaited data disc, the release date of which we could learn as early as next week at the Summer Game Fest event, where the game will certainly appear.

Despite the ongoing work on Phantom Liberty, it is clear that gradually a significant part of the developers is moving to development of the upcoming new part of the Witcher series with the designation Polaris, which should eventually crystallize into a completely new trilogy. This development can be seen in the attached graph below, which shows the currently developed games and the number of developers who participated in individual projects in different periods.

Lately it is obvious gradually increasing the developer team responsible for the new Witcher, which compensates for the decrease of developers who took care of supporting Cyberpunk 2077. However, a significant strengthening and a full-fledged start of the development of the new Witcher will probably only happen after the completion of Phantom Liberty.
