CD Projekt RED congratulated No Man’s Sky developers on the announcement of Light No Fire and joked “you can always fix it later”

CD Projekt RED, the developers of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher series, congratulated Hello Games on the announcement of the ambitious fantasy game Light no Fire at The Game Awards 2023, essentially joking about the past failure and subsequent revival of both studios.

For context: Hello Games released No Man’s Sky to a barrage of criticism that the game was missing many of the features Sean Murray promised. However, over the years, a bunch of large-scale updates have been added to the project, significantly improving its image – today NMS is considered one of the best open world games and is still regularly updated with free content, so the game has long gone beyond what was promised before release.

A similar situation arose with Cyberpunk 2077 after a problematic release in 2020, although it was more about technical shortcomings. Compare this to today, when Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty won awards for best expansion, and it’s clear that both games have come a long way since their release.

Meanwhile, Murray isn’t the only one worried that Hello Games is repeating old mistakes by promising too much. NMS fans are begging him not to do the same thing after declaring that Light No Fire will be “the first true gaming world” – whatever that means.
