CChC Chillán proposes elaboration of an electric transmission map for Ñuble – La Discusión

Within the framework of the Energy Table convened by the Regional Government and the Ñuble Energy Seremi, in which representatives of various sectors of the region participate, the president of the Chilean Chamber of Construction Chillán, Ricardo Salman, proposed the elaboration of an electric transmission map to publicize the current availability of load that the different localities of the region have and, with this, encourage private investment.

During the meeting, held this Monday at the Ñuble Regional Government offices, the companies Traselec, Grupo Saesa and Copelec presented their proposals for the expansion of the regional electricity transmission lines, which are insufficient for potential demand and make it impossible to create new industries that generate employment and development at the pace that the region requires.

Faced with this situation and taking into account that the projects presented during the meeting have, for the most part, a minimum term of three to four years for their execution, the businessman and leader of the builders’ union requested the creation of a map of Ñuble that show the approximate transmission capacity that is currently available, thus showing potential investors the communes where they could obtain the necessary amount of energy to establish themselves.

“This is a very good instance of coordination so that, together with all the electric companies, we can see the development of the transmission system in the region and identify the areas with shortcomings (…) We have raised the idea of an energy map to receive new companies and projects that can be installed in Ñuble in a short term and, at the same time, show in a coordinated manner all the projects presented so far and know where this new energy offer would be located, so that companies can also plan investments in the medium and long term”, indicated Salman.

According to the president of the CChC Chillán, there are a good number of companies interested in establishing themselves in Ñuble and they hope that the problem of the lack of electricity transmission can be solved to make the final decision to move to our region, for which he considered that ” This coordination that we are seeing is very propitious to show the existing energy offer and, with it, open all the possibilities of increasing the productive development of the Ñuble Region”.

One of the most crucial works to mitigate the energy deficit in the region in the short term is line 66 Charrúa-Chillán. However, the transmission and distribution company CGE, owner of said line, was not present during this meeting.

At this meeting, the companies Traselec, Grupo Saesa and Copelec informed the authorities and representatives of local unions of the details of their proposals for energy expansion that they will present in the Open Season or open call promoted by the Ñuble Energy Seremi, Ricardo León Cifuentes, which will serve for the development of urgent transmission works of the national electrical system.
