The pretenders to the podium follow one another in the Jean-Cochet room and leave empty-handed each time. This was the case in the Pyrenees of Lescar (3rd) during the 3rd day and Saint-Nazaire (3rd) during the sixth. Before this 7th day, Niort is presented, in turn, in 3rd place, with only one defeat, like the leader of Brive and his runner-up of Chartres. Just one point separates Euréliens and Deux-Sévriens after the latter’s two tie-break successes, against Mérignac and Kloar-Aven. The only misstep was, curiously, at home against Angers (1-3).
The importance of the ball…
The performance of Pexinois Niort, coached since 2010 by the Cameroonian Alain Fossi, is not one that worries the Chartres coach, even if he is wary of this team. “We are in a good dynamic, especially at home, we don’t panic, we have to show that we are at home. We are expecting a big match against Niort who is aiming for the podium. Outside there are always important matches, for the configuration of the room, the ball… “
In volleyball not everyone plays with the same ball, some use the Mikasa brand, others Molten. Coach Kadu’s explanations: “Molten is a little heavier, especially on serve and in attack, and the ball tends to fall faster…” At home Chartres plays with Mikasa, “ball that floats more, not “it” needs more control. The Italian-Argentine of the CCV Tomas Gallo prefers the Mikasa, “defending is more difficult, you need more quality”. In Brive, Chartres had lost playing with a Mikasa. In Bordeaux the CCV had won with a Molten, but 3-2 in a small and very noisy room.
