The Chartrains have been gaining momentum for a month now. The victory against Servette Genève, the third in a row*, even confirmed the status of favorites of the JRC, now leaders, in a group 1 where five teams seem to stand out.
“What worries us is to collect points in each of our outings, as we have been able to do so far”, confides a Renaud Gourdon seduced by the mental qualities shown by his players in front of the former leader of Geneva.
“We snatched this win in the money-time. But we went looking for it. In the last minutes the referee has to award us a penalty try and refuses us a valid try,” recalled the former Soyaux-Angoulême coach.
Almela in the back
All the more reason not to jump psychologically before attacking a last block of four games, on November 26, in Annecy (8th). Before the trip to Haute-Savoie, the imperative will therefore be to beat a team from Drancy who have just offered themselves the scalp of the only team to have beaten the CCR this season in the league: Nuits-Saint-Georges. That was last weekend, with improved passing success (35-6). “They’re a solid team that moves well, they proved it last week,” added Renaud Gourdon, who opted to field Argentine Ignacio “Nacho” Almela in defense in place of Théo Louvet, who was deployed for the first time Sunday, against Geneva.
The JRC snatches victory in Geneva
A turnover policy that is still bearing fruit given that C’Chartres continues to make the figures panic, even if the very close duel against Geneva has clearly reduced the average of goals scored: 31 in eight games, that is almost four average. Statistics that remain anecdotal at this stage of the season. Because only one really matters: the number of points earned (29).
