The 26-year-old midfielder, right-handed, 1.82 for 72 kg, arrives from Poissy where he has just completed a full season in N2. “In his first minutes, he was very interesting, slipped Jean-Pierre Papin, the Chartrain coach. He is an explosive player, good technically, who goes fast. A little ball of nerves capable of going box to box. It’s a profile we didn’t have.”
A native of Tarbes, Omare Gassama first lived in the Hautes-Pyrénées before joining Tours around the age of 10, where he studied. The Guinean of origin then passed through Thouars (N3) and Le Mans (N3) before leaving for Italy, in Cesena (Serie B) by which he was loaned in series D to San Marino and Francavilla. Then he went to Switzerland, to Meyrin. “Good experiences. I learned a lot tactically and rigorously,” said the neo-Chartrain.
Returning to France in 2019, he replayed two seasons in Tours (N3) before discovering N2 with Poissy. He played there with Clément Chantôme whom he therefore found in Chartres to become the 22nd player in the JPP squad.
“We were just in midfield. Four for an entire season was not a lot, not enough. We preferred to secure this sector”, justified the CCF coach.
Seeming a little blunted, Chartres was jostled, under an oppressive heat, by an astonishing PetrusFlo selection, named after its creator Florian Petrus.
