The national title fights will be held on May 6th in Mülheim an der Ruhr. First, the Flying Stars, the youngest team from Haßloch, competed in the Peewee Cheer category at the state championships for cheerleaders in Bensheim: a total of seven teams were represented in this class. “It was the first championship for many girls. Most of the girls are between seven and nine years old. We didn’t expect to qualify for the German championship and are therefore all the more pleased,” says Anja Scheu, who recently joined the coaching team consisting of Laura Miodek, Elena Glaser and Annika Kuczpiol.
Flawless Fantastics
The CCH Fantastics started in the Junior Cheer Mixed category. The 18 girls and two boys between the ages of 13 and 17 are trained twice a week by Tyra Thielsch, Janina Wolf, Line Grimm and Jan Mayer. Her program in Bensheim consisted of difficult elements such as thrown somersaults and a pyramid called the Swedish. The CCH Fantastics presented their program to the jury flawlessly.
In the adult categories, the CCH Cheerleaders started with three teams for the first time. The decision was made at short notice to register a team for the special category Senior Groupstunt All Female. The stunt group consisting of Leonie Parthenschlager, Janina Wolf, Diana Pfening, Leonie Baumann and Thyra Thielsch showed the audience two thrown somersault variations as well as one-legged stunts with longitudinal axis rotations in their one-minute program. The flawless performance was rated with 103 points.
50 points ahead
The five girls also took to the mat with another 20 in the Senior Cheer All Female category. There were a total of six starters. The trainers Lara Theobald and Ann-Sophie Reichhart had rehearsed new elements with their team over the past few months, which the cheerleaders all presented flawlessly. Among other things, the women from Hassloch showed a pyramid with three highflyers and somersaults. In a highflyer, an athlete is lifted or thrown into the air. The gymnastics elements were also much more difficult than last year with wheel turning somersaults, flick flacks and archways. The reward: 202.5 points, which meant a 50-point lead over the runner-up. “The girls have proven that they can call up the rehearsed routine even under pressure. Each one gave their best performance. We’re incredibly proud of that,” the two trainers reported happily.
Top score for the Falcons
With 219 points, the CCH Falcons received the highest rating of all German teams that took part in all state championships in 2023 in the Senior Cheer Mixed category. With a difficult program of partner stunts, a pyramid with three highflyers and thrown screws, the seven men and nine women, coached by Christina Kercher and Andreas Corper, won the national title.
At the German championship, the teams can qualify both for the European championships scheduled for July in Wiesbaden and for the world championships in November in Japan.
