CCE urges legislators to conduct extensive analysis of judicial reform

Mexico City. The Business Coordinating Council (CCE), an organization that brings together the country’s main chambers of private enterprise, urged the upper house of the legislative branch to analyze and discuss at length the reform of the Judicial Branch.

In a letter distributed to the media on Monday night, the CCE considered that the discussion should be extensive since a reform to the Judicial Branch of the Federation must safeguard the rights and international commitments of our country.

“The Mexican private sector calls on all members of the Senate of the Republic to allow, on the 200th Anniversary of the establishment of this institution so important in the history of Mexico, a deliberate, extensive discussion with sufficient time to analyze, consider and debate the necessary changes that will allow us to improve the administration of justice in the country and the functioning of the judicial branch,” said the CCE.

The document, classified as an open letter, states that “a reform to the constitutional regime that guarantees the separation of powers and the independence of the judiciary must be discussed and analyzed in depth and responsibly by all actors to safeguard Mexico’s fundamental rights and international commitments in the areas of human, labor and environmental rights, as well as trade and investment treaties.”

The CCE is made up of organizations such as the Mexican Banking Association, the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic, the Confederation of Industrial Chambers, among others.

“In the coming years, Mexico has a unique opportunity to have a comprehensive justice system in line with the new times, which provides legal certainty, the rule of law and an environment conducive to investment. In this way, we will have the conditions to achieve greater growth, development and better living conditions for Mexicans,” concluded the CCE.
