The Legislative Block of the Civic Coalition ARI-Cambiemos, demanded that the provincial government, through the Ministry of Health, “urgently provide the means for the implementation or replacement of the mammogram at the Aníbal Serra Hospital in the city of San Antonio Oeste.”
Through a communication project that has already reached parliamentary status, and after having heard the claims made by a group of women who started a campaign to collect signatures, Javier Acevedo, Roberta Scavo, Daniela Agostino and Fernando Frugoni, recalled that “primary health care, as defined by the World Health Organization, is an approach that includes the whole society and that aims to guarantee the highest possible level of health, well-being and equity.” In this sense, they point out that “despite the fact that these concepts are public and general knowledge, and supported by the main health institutions in the world; the Provincial Ministry of Health has not taken notice that the mammogram at the Aníbal Serra Hospital in San Antonio Oeste is inoperative and that the community’s claims for it to be restored have been varied.”
“As a result, mammograms are no longer performed normally and efficiently since then. were carried out in that health establishmentwhich served not only women from San Antonio Oeste and Las Grutas, but also from Sierra Grande and Valcheta,” they add in the grounds that support the urgent request. They emphasize that “today the community of San Antonio Oeste, Las Grutas and its surroundings, requests the restoration of the service urgently and that the Provincial Executive Power, act accordingly.” Regarding this, legislator Frugoni of the Atlantic Circuit that he represents indicated that “today, for women in our region there are only two alternatives to get a mammogram: either they spend around 25,000 pesos on round trip tickets to Viedma, taxi and other expenses or they must pay a higher amount than that to be able to do it privately.”
