Canarian Coalition (CC) calls on the Cabildo de La Palma to use the tube from the Pozo de San Antonio to supply irrigation water to the 180 bushels of bananas in the San Isidro area, since they consider it “incomprehensible” that there is a facility that can take irrigation water to these farms and it is not being used.
The nationalists claim to have proof that the farmers made this proposal to the insular president, Mariano Hernández, and to the councilor Carlos Cabrera 15 days ago, who said they were going to study it, “but nothing has moved.”
CC insists that while waiting for the work of the Government of the Canary Islands, which will still take months, the Cabildo could redirect the water through the tube of the Well of San Antonio with a relatively simple intervention and a cost that would not exceed 20,000 euros, as calculated by farmers.
The formation criticizes that the closure of the ring along the Carretera de Fuencaliente has not yet been completed and draws attention that “in six months the Cabildo has not had time to consider all the possible options so as not to let the crops dry up due to lack of of water and, above all, knowing that the well has been operational pumping water to the tanker”.
CC wonders “what is Mariano Hernández waiting for?” yes, as they say, the pipelines are operational and water can begin to be supplied while the work of the regional government is carried out on the other hand.
