CBF creates rules to return to the public and limits the difference in crowd

The CBF has finalized its protocol for the return of the public to the stadiums of football amid the pandemic of coronavirus. The document establishes rules that restrict large differences in the percentage of fans in the knockouts and vetoes fans if one of the teams cannot receive them. But the return of the public depends on the approval of health authorities in the Copa do Brasil, and again the Club Council, at the Brazilian Nationals.

The CBF protocol establishes that only people who test negative for covid-19 or fully vaccinated can be in the stages. A novelty is that the use of antigen tests will be allowed, in addition to RT-PCR. Exams must be taken 48 hours before the game.

For the playoffs, the CBF established that there can be a public with authorization from the two states where there will be games. In this case, the difference between the maximum audience percentage will be 15%, regardless of the rule of each place. In one hypothesis: if a team can only receive 15% of fans, its rival will only be able to sell 30% of the tickets even if it has authorization for a larger audience.

Only home fans will be allowed to avoid the displacement of the visiting public.

The rules, for now, are valid for the Copa do Brasil. “The adoption of this Protocol, which enables the public to return to the stadiums, is subject to its approval by the respective Technical Councils (in extraordinary meetings) in the competitions that promote this meeting, namely: Brasileirão Assaí 2021 (Series A), Brazilian Championship Serie B 2021 and Brazilian Championship Serie C 2021. The decision on the applicability in other competitions will be made by the DCO/CBF.”, affirmed the confederation.
