At the deep point of Wadi Sura on the southwestern slope of the Gilf Kabir Mountains in its remote southwestern cornerNew Valley Governorate In Egypt near the border between Libya and Sudan, which is considered one of the driest areas in the desert and it is a deserted area at the present time, as prehistoric man lived in that region where the desert climate was then humid, in what was known as the Holocene era, there was a lake at the bottom of the cave And the climate turned dry after the end of the ideal climate for the Holocene era 6,000 years ago inside a cave known as the Cave of Monsters, also known as “Fujini-Mestikawi”, which is a large cave of natural stones in Egypt that features more than 5,000 murals from the Stone Age, estimated to be 7,000 years old. thousands of years.
This cave was discovered in 2002 by archaeologists Massimo, Jacopo Fogini and Ahmed Mustekawi, where archaeologists at the University of Cologne conducted an in-depth study of the cave in 2010, and the cave was named “Saura 2” in order to be distinguished from the cave of the swimmers “Saura 1”, which is far 10 km to the east, and the width of the cave is 17 meters (56 feet) and its length is about 7 meters (23 feet) and contains more than 5,000 well-preserved drawings painted with red, yellow, white and black dyes, and there are hundreds of prints of hands and feet drawn with a group of people, and animals.
The Journal of Archeology issued a report in February 2016 stating that the prints of the thirteen hands, which were believed to be prints of human hands, differ greatly from human hands in terms of size, shape, and equivalence, and it appears that humans made them using the hand of the lizard as a print, and many were distorted. of monsters deliberately prehistoric.
The cave was covered with drawings of a group of people dancing and swimming. In the lower left corner there are drawings of two groups of people between them a rocky crack. The group above the crack carries ropes over their heads, while the group under the stone crack puts their hands above their heads, and they all look to the left. Images of wild animals throughout the cave such as elephants, deer, giraffes, and ostriches, parts of this cave represent a world of legends that have not yet been deciphered along with the monsters.
