The French Blood Establishment is organizing a blood drive, Wednesday February 17 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Thursday February 18 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bonnaïs de Caussade space, with the help of the Amicale pour le donation of volunteer blood in Quercy Caussadais. Regarding the vaccination against Covid-19, in the vast majority of cases, it is possible to donate blood after an injection of the vaccine, without any postponement period to be observed. It is only in cases of vaccination abroad or as part of a vaccine trial that a deadline must be observed before donating blood. It is possible to go to a collection except in the event of a positive test for Covid-19 in the last 42 days; symptoms of Covid-19 in the past 28 days; of close contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19 in the past 14 days. During the collection, it is imperative to scrupulously respect the rules of social distancing as well as the barrier gestures. An approved mask is given on arrival by the EFS teams. Despite the curfew in force, it is allowed to donate blood after 6 p.m. by completing the exceptional travel certificate, box: help for vulnerable people.
In practice
Anyone between the ages of 18 and 70, who weighs more than 50 kg and who is recognized as fit following the pre-donation interview, can donate blood. After 60 years, the first donation is subject to the assessment of a doctor from the EFS. Men can donate up to six times a year and women up to four times. Between two blood donations, a minimum period of eight weeks must be observed. Finally, if some measures are final, you should know that 80% of postponements to donation are temporary. The donation candidate can therefore come forward again after having respected the postponement period.
Every day in France, 10,000 blood donations are needed to meet the needs of patients who suffer from a deficiency in blood components following an illness or an accident. Blood donation remains the only chance to treat certain patients to this day.
