Caught ‘red-handed’ a judge in an alleged illegal party in Lanzarote | BE Lanzarote

A judge has been caught ‘red-handed’ at an allegedly illegal party, in the south of the island of Lanzarote, by the Civil Guard and the Local Police of Yaiza, according to the newspaper CANARIAS 7.

The Civil Guard agents, eight members of the Rapid Intervention Group (GIR) as SER Lanzarote has learned, intervened this Thursday before the notice that a party was being held in a village located in Puerto Calero, in the municipality of Yaiza , after 20:00 h. Once there, the guards allegedly found a dozen people who allegedly did not respect the anti-Covid measures of distancing, use of a mask, and who were also not living together.

It was at the time of the identification before the agents that one of those present claimed to be a judge, given the circumstance that he was also accompanied by another lawyer from the administration of justice. The Local Police of Yaiza also intervened in the action carried out before several calls from neighbors who gave the warning.

The information published by the newspaper also points out that the judge considered the action “disproportionate” and that he also asked the agents to identify themselves one by one, which resulted in the consequent delay in the intervention.

It must be remembered that Lanzarote is at alert level 4, the highest in the Canary Islands and in order to contain the spread of the Coronavirus Covid 19, which means the restriction of meetings to two people and the closure of non-essential businesses to those 6:00 p.m., among other measures.
