“Caught in the Act: The Music World’s Copying Controversy in Eurovision and Beyond”

A traditional topic in the music world in recent years is the so-called copying of parts of new successful compositions from parts of songs from previous years. When it comes directly to Eurovision, let’s recall, for example, Mans Zelmerlöw, who won in 2015 with the song Heroes.

Fans and many musicians later compared it to the song Lovers On The Sun by French DJ and producer David Guetta. The similarity was noticeable, but no legal action took place.

Loreen and other creators who are signed under Tattoo have also been criticized for copying. Even Czech fans must have registered that the stanzas of that song are strikingly reminiscent of the melody of the composition A ty sé páš ke ja from the repertoire of Helena Vondráčková. Its original song was sung by the Swedish band ABBA, its performance is called The Winner Takes It All and it is from 1980.

Other fans have already found a form in the winning composition with the song V plenu (2005) by the Ukrainian singer Mika Newton. The passages in the songs Skyline (2014) by the Danish-Swedish metal band Amaranthe and Easy on Me (2021) by the British singer Adele are also very similar. Social media also mentions a possible inspiration from the opening of Flying Free (1999) by the Spanish dance group Pont Aeri.

Honestly, there are too many similarities for one piece.
