A resident of an apartment on Beatrijslaan caught three burglars in his apartment on Tuesday afternoon. The man immediately notified the police. The cycling team drove two of the three clamp into the Pedestrian Tunnel, the third was stopped on the ferry’s quay.

After the burglars were caught, they immediately started running. “A 19-year-old man walked towards the pontoon of the ferry on the Left Bank. An intervention patrol could stop him on the quay, ”says Willem Migom of the Antwerp police. “The others, two 18-year-old ladies, entered the Pedestrian Tunnel. A team from the Orida cycling team was able to intercept them in the tunnel and arrest them together with the faster response team. ”
The three had several stolen items. The police found several other stolen cases along their escape route. “The loot was primarily clothes and some jewelry. The burglars had also probably tried to break open the safe in the apartment, but failed, ”says Migom.
The three suspects were not ready for their test piece. They were known for previous facts, one of the ladies was also reported in an investigation by the local police of Lier. The three are brought before the investigating judge, who has to decide on their further arrest.
