After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna, he spent several years in Brazil, where he honed his skills in community health projects and social innovation.Returning to Italy in 2014,he joined the Center for International and Intercultural Health Research at the University of Bologna,focusing on research,training,and the institution of health services.In 2018,Sintoni joined Ausl Romagna,working in the Public Health Department of Cesena. By May 2021, he had taken on the role of director for the Districts of Cesena-Valle del Savio and Valle del Rubicone, and in March 2022, he assumed leadership of the socio-health district of Forlì. additionally, he is a professor of epidemiology at the University of Bologna’s Rimini Campus.
When asked about his unexpected appointment, Sintoni shared, “The proposal initially came to me unexpectedly. However, analyzing the trajectory of development and implementation of the Ausl Romagna structure, I think it can respond to two impelled needs.” He emphasized the importance of consolidating district governance to tailor services to the specific needs of local communities and integrating hospital care wiht primary and intermediate care processes.Sintoni’s dual role as director of both the hospital and the District of Forlì presents a unique challenge.He described the Morgagni-Pierantoni Hospital as a “great organization, populated by professionals of undisputed value and reference at national and international level.” He highlighted the hospital’s high-tech capabilities and its potential for integration with other Ausl Romagna facilities, such as the Faenza garrison and the Bufalini Hospital in Cesena.

While the renovation of the Allende Pavilion has faced delays due to heritage preservation requirements, the goal is to complete the works by March-April.
