Krefeld/Moenchengladbach. The head of the “Catholic circus and showman pastoral care in Germany”, national pastor Pastor Sascha Ellinghaus, blessed the newly acquired “Beach Jumper” ride from the company Detlef Dreßen and Sons from Mönchengladbach at the Sprödental fair in Krefeld. “May God’s blessings and success accompany the operating family, employees and visitors,” says the certificate presented. Numerous showmen attended the blessing on the square on Uerdinger Straße.
Since the 1950s, the Catholic and Protestant churches in Germany have sent pastors to the circus and fairground trades. According to the German Showmen’s Association, there are around 80,000 Christians who live and work in the showman and circus trade.
The “Beach Jumper” will be doing his rounds at the Sprödental funfair in Krefeld until Sunday, May 14th. A total of 122 booths and rides are set up on the fairground on Uerdinger Straße. The opening times are on Saturday, May 13, from 2 p.m. to midnight and on Sunday, May 14, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
