The trial was held virtually directly from the detention center in Depok, West Java. Catherine’s trial begins at 10.30 WIB on Tuesday (8/12/2020).
Catherine Wilson’s attorney, Verna Wahono, spoke up about Catherine’s appearance veiled. Verna explained that Catherine had recently worn a hijab.
“For the new hijab, yes,” said Verna after the trial.
Furthermore, Verna emphasized that Catherine uses the hijab at certain moments. Some moments such as doing alms events or things that are considered necessary to maintain appearance to make it look more closed and polite.
Verna continues to wear the veil daily, says Catherine is still not ready.
“So she (Catherine Wilson) in certain conditions just wears the hijab. Maybe yes, there are often events to give alms or I see her wearing the hijab,” said Verna.
“Yes, for days not yet,” he added.
Even so, Catherine Wilson’s condition is currently said to be more religious. Catherine became more and more diligent in fasting and praying.
Regarding the condition of Catherine who is more religious and uses the hijab, Verna does not want to give more confirmation, including about Catherine Wilson’s personal decision. For him it is none of his business.
“As I have already said, she (Catherine) often prays and fasts. Yes, it means by this she is more religious,” he explained.
“I also don’t know in the future whether or not I wear hijab, I can ask her again,” concluded Verna.
In this preliminary hearing, Catherine Wilson heard the allegations read to her by the public prosecutor. The public prosecutor sued Catherine Wilson with article 114 and article 112 juncto article 127 of Law No. 35 of 2009 about narcotics.
The punishment that overshadows Catherine Wilson from these two articles is a minimum of four years in prison and a maximum of 20 years in prison.
