Flight attendant union Cathay Pacific has met with management to discuss issues such as staff confusion and remuneration. After the meeting, the union said the company verbally promised that the watch will be improved next month, but did not explain the situation in detail. The meeting did not reach a consensus. If they are not satisfied with the results of the negotiation, they will continue to communicate with the company.
The union said it will pay close attention to the January update announced next Monday and collect members’ opinions. If there is no significant improvement in the update or it continues to affect the lives of employees, it will discuss countermeasures and consider various additional actions, including strikes.
Cathay Pacific management released a statement saying it had invited union representatives to meet following the January 19 work program announcement and to meet again in February on issues of common concern. Cathay Pacific stressed that most of the union’s concerns have been resolved in a timely manner in January, including adjusting the off-station time of Australia, New Zealand, long-haul and ultra-long-haul flights; flights to Perth and flights to and from India on the same day increased by increased number of 2 and 4 cabin crew on duty and reopening of service options with elevated flight hours; on Boston and Madrid flights, another group of cabin crew members will be on duty on the return flight; measures will be taken to avoid arriving in Delhi and leaving in the early morning of the night immediately after the duty flight, etc. In addition to the existing double Christmas and New Year’s dinner allowances, additional special allowances will also be provided to cabin crew remaining on duty during the Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year period. The company will continue to address related matters and would like to thank the cabin crew for their patience and understanding.
