Cathay Pacific Flight to Osaka Turns Back Due to Cargo Door Issue

Cathay Pacific’s flight to Osaka is suspected of having to turn back due to the cargo door not being closed properly

A Cathay Pacific flight from Chek Lap Kok Airport to Osaka Kansai Airport in Japan this morning (20th) was suspected to have turned back after taking off because the cargo door was not closed. After receiving the report, the police and fire fighters were on alert at the airport. The aircraft landed safely and there were no reports of injuries.

Cathay Pacific CX596, which caused the accident, took off at 8:36 this morning and was supposed to arrive at Kansai International Airport at 1 p.m. However, at 9:21 a.m., the police received a report that the flight was suspected to be returning to Chek Lap Kok Airport because the cargo door was not closed properly, and ground personnel were asked to be alert. The flight subsequently landed at 9:43 a.m.

According to the Flightradar platform that tracks flights, CX596 suddenly circled around to drain fuel and return to Chek Lap Kok about 20 minutes after takeoff. According to the AA’s website, CX596 was originally scheduled to take off at 8:10 am, but the current status is that it will be delayed until 12 noon.
