Category 4 Hurricane Milton changes trajectory – Diario La Página –

Civil Protection of Quintana Roo ruled out that Category 4 Hurricane Milton will impact the coast of Yucatan, after the cone of the system moved north 30 kilometers. However, the hurricane’s cloud bands will continue to affect northern Campeche, Yucatán and northern Quintana Roo this Tuesday.

Climate: What is the path of Category 4 Hurricane Milton?
Milton, now a category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale, is located 85 kilometers north-northwest of Dzilam and 120 kilometers west-northwest of Río Lagartos, both towns in Yucatán.

It has maximum sustained winds of 250 km/h, gusts of 280 km/h and movement towards the east at 15 km/h.

Its wide circulation and cloud bands will cause occasional torrential rains in Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo (north).

In addition, wind gusts of 180 to 200 km/h, waves of 6 to 8 meters high and possible formation of waterspouts on the coasts of Campeche (north), Yucatán and Quintana Roo (north); Gusts of 100 to 120 km/h and waves of 4 to 6 meters high on the coasts of Veracruz and Tabasco.

Likewise, a storm surge of 1 to 3 meters is expected over Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo (north).

Hurricane Milton weather: it will continue moving away from Mexican beaches
The National Meteorological Service predicts that Hurricane Milton will continue moving away from Mexican lands, since for this Wednesday, October 9, the system is expected to be 315 kilometers north-northeast of Cabo Catoche, Quintana Roo.

While on Thursday, October 11, the hurricane will lose strength to be a category 3 1,390 km northeast of Cabo Catoche, Quintana Roo. It is expected to make landfall that day in Florida, United States.
