Catching up with cNed: Could the Turkish Star Return Home for VCT 2024?

After a fairly disappointing 2023 season under the Natus Vincere colors, Mehmet “cNed” İpek could take advantage of this offseason to return to his roots by joining a Turkish team in preparation for VCT 2024. He is currently doing some testing with FUT Esports.

cNed back in Türkiye?

The 2023 season has proven to be disappointing for Natus Vincere (NaVi). Despite an honorable 3rd place at the LOCK//IN tournament in São Paulo and a 4th place at the VCT 2023: EMEA League, the team unfortunately failed to shine on the international scene. She finished in 11th/12th place at the Tokyo Masters and 9th/12th place at Valorant Champions 2023, being eliminated in the group stage twice and failing to qualify for the playoffs. This 2023 season has given way to the transfer window, and rumors have been circulating for several days about a possible recruitment of Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks by NaVi, and we have now learned that Mehmet “cNed” İpek could leave the team to join FUT Esports , according to information from Esporkolik.

Aged 21 and originally from Turkey, where he began his professional Valorant gaming career with BBL Esports, cNed is considered one of the most notable figures in the EMEA region. He notably won the Valorant World Championship in 2021 with the Acend team, during the very first edition of Valorant Champions. After this victory, he joined NaVi leaving Acend to become part of the core of the former team FunPlus Phoenix.

However, his time with the Ukrainian team was not successful as the results achieved in 2023. A few weeks after the world championships in Los Angeles, it was reported that cNed was not part of the plans of NaVi for the next competitive season, and the Turk could therefore take advantage of this off-season to return to his roots by joining a Turkish team in anticipation of the 2024 VCT.
