The 2021 NHL free agency period has officially begun! It is now open season for NHL teams and free agents on the market, as Wednesday afternoon officially marked the start of the free agency period.
As expected, there was a lot of activity as soon as the free agency period opened, but there will surely be more signings and deals as the summer progresses. We’ve already seen major signings with Zach Hyman moving to Edmonton and Petr Mrazek leaving Carolina for Toronto, among others.
And not only that, we’ve seen a handful of potential UFA re-sign with their respective teams, with Gabriel Landeskog returning to Colorado, Alec Martinez signing with Vegas again and Alex Ovechkin staying to end his career with the Capitals.
With the NHL free agency period open, here are all the major transfers that have been completed as the hockey offseason progresses.
