MAGENTA — Cataracts are a vision problem that is often associated with diseases of older people. The process of cataract disease generally occurs slowly and does not cause significant pain.
According to ophthalmologist Maria Magdalena Purba, cataracts cause blurred vision, thereby reducing a person’s quality of life. If cataracts are left without proper treatment, it can cause a person to become permanently blind.
“In general, cataracts appear naturally as a person gets older. But in some cases, cataracts can also attack people of productive age,” said Maria, who started joining KMN EyeCare in 2020, in a release, Monday (25/12/2023).

The development of cataracts cannot be inhibited, but we can treat it appropriately. One way is to be sensitive to the early symptoms of cataracts.
“Symptoms of cataracts do not come suddenly. Unfortunately, many people still do not understand the early symptoms of cataracts and therefore ignore some of the signs. Symptoms of cataracts vary from individual to individual,” he said.
• Blurred vision
Vision becomes blurry or blurry. This is the most common symptom of cataracts. Cataracts make the lens of the eye cloudy, so that light cannot be focused precisely on the retina, causing the images seen to appear blurry or blurry.
• Decreased visual acuity
This happens gradually over time and over time vision acuity can get worse.

• Double or shadowed vision
Cataracts can cause double vision, where you see a single object as two overlapping images or images. This happens because the lens behind the pupil changes shape when it focuses.
• Difficulty seeing at night
People with cataracts often have difficulty seeing in low light or at night. Cataracts reduce the eye’s ability to adjust to changes in light, making vision in low light conditions very difficult.
• Changes in color perception
Some people may experience changes in color perception. Colors may look pale or not as bright as before.
