Catalan Labor Inspectorate sanctions Cabify, two subcontractors and one ETT

Catalan Labor Inspectorate sanctions Cabify, two subcontractors and one ETT for illegal transfer of workers

  • 120 workers are those who are harmed because a lower collective agreement is applied to the one that would correspond to them if they were hired directly by Cabify
  • The Labor Inspection has found that, as a result of this breach of labor regulations, workers have lower economic conditions, vacations and leave, among other damages
  • Inspecció de Treball informs workers that they can judicially request to be hired directly by Cabify

The Catalan Labor Inspectorate has drawn up 735,000 euros sanction acts against the Cabify company, two transport companies (Lopez Rubio and Proinvertia) and an ETT (JT Hiring) for illegal transfer of workers.

Specifically, the proposed penalty for Cabify is 431,275 euros; those of Lopez Rubio and Proinvertia reach 243,745 euros, and that of JT Hiring is 60,000 euros.

Labor Inspection began this investigative action in February 2020, and considers that the two transport companies subcontractors supply the illegal labor in Cabify. In addition, the ETT formalizes fraudulent provision contracts.

As a consequence of the illegal transfer, 120 workers are harmed since a lower collective agreement is applied to them than that which would correspond to them if they were directly hired by Cabify.

The damages suffered by these workers are reflected in lower economic conditions, vacations, permits and less capacity for union and judicial representation.

Once the sanction proposal has been made, the Catalan Labor Inspectorate will notify all workers affected by this very serious offense by letter that they can judicially request to be hired directly by Cabify.
