The animal would have slipped by mistake in the luggage and would have been found safe and sound.
“A historical find”. Agents at JFK Airport in New York, United States, photos shared on Tuesday from one of their scanners on social networks: among various products in a suitcase, the silhouette of a cat nestled in the luggage is very clearly seen.
“A Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officer was shocked to find a ginger cat in checked baggage at JFK Airport after it went through the X-ray unit,” TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein wrote.
This story dates back to November 16, reports NBC News. The baggage in question was checked for a flight from New York to Orlando (Florida), with a scheduled connection in Atlanta (Georgia).
The cat “is out of the bag and safe”
In other photos shared by the TSA, orange hairs can be seen sticking out of the suitcase and an agent opening the bag to find the cat inside, which airport officials say is alive and well. “He’s out of the bag and he’s safe,” says TSA.
“The X-ray machine is this cat’s new best friend” assures Lisa Farbsteinbecause transportation in these conditions could have been fatal to the animal.
The bag’s owner said “the cat belonged to someone else” who lived in his home, says TSA. He would have slipped into the suitcase without the traveler noticing.
“Cats like spaces surrounded by barriers,” Katherine Houpt, animal behavior expert, tells NBC News.
remember CBS for his part that airport agents regularly find strange elements in the suitcases they check alleging, among other things: a gun hidden in a raw chicken, a chainsaw or a meth burrito.
