Casualties and Flooding in Jilin and Hebei Provinces as Typhoon No. 5 ‘Eagle’ Hits China

Rain clouds from Typhoon No. 5 ‘Eagle’, which hit Beijing and Hebei provinces in China, moved to the northeast region and caused casualties in Jilin Province.

According to local media, including the state-run Xinhua News Agency, one person died and four people went missing in the city of Suran due to heavy rains in Jilin Province.

Among the missing were the deputy mayor of commerce in Suran, who was involved in the rescue operation.

Flooding occurred in several areas of Suran City, bridges collapsed and roads were damaged, and it was estimated that 134,000 people were displaced.

In Baoding City, Hebei Province, which suffered severe heavy rains before the northeast region, the death toll rose to 10 and the missing to 18, respectively.
